Day 1: Marrakech -> High Atlas Mountains -> Skoura -> Dades Gorges
We pick you up from your accommodation. Leaving Marrakech, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, stopping at the most scenic spots — and you can request stops whenever you wish.
After lunch in Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate, we continue towards the Dades Gorges through Skoura and the Rose Valley. In Skoura’s lush oasis, you can visit the remarkable Amridil Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most impressive fortified villages. In spring, we can stop to see the valley in full rose bloom.
Reaching the Dades Gorges, prepare to be amazed by the rock formations known as “monkey fingers” and the panoramic gorge views. We then head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Dades Gorges -> Todra Canyon -> Merzouga desert
After breakfast, take a scenic drive along the Dades and Todra Rivers, framed by palm groves and Berber villages, to the Todra Gorge in Tinghir — one of the world’s most amazing canyons. Then head to the Merzouga desert.
Before reaching the Erg Chebbi dunes, your driver/guide will suggest a traditional Berber shop, where you can take free photos in Berber dress. You may buy scarves or souvenirs if you wish, but there’s no obligation — just tell your guide if you’d like to skip it.
Arriving in Merzouga, set off on a camel ride to watch the sunset over the dunes and try sandboarding. Then spend the night in a luxury desert camp with a tasty dinner and the magic of the Sahara at night.
Day 3: Merzouga -> Rissani -> Agdez -> Ouarzazate
Wake early for a breathtaking sunrise from the nearest dune. After breakfast at camp, return to Merzouga town by camel or comfortable 4×4.
Nearby is the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnawa music, where we’ll pause to enjoy the sound. Next is Rissani, an ancient city significant as the cradle of Morocco’s current ruling family and an important stop on old caravan routes. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Sundays we can visit its traditional souk.
From Rissani we continue through the picturesque Draa Valley at Agdez, arriving in Ouarzazate in the afternoon to settle into our accommodation.
Day 4: Ouarzazate -> Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah -> Telouet Kasbah -> Marrakech
After breakfast, we explore Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa” and a key gateway to the Sahara. It’s home to Atlas Studios, Africa’s largest, and the historic Taourirt Kasbah.
We then continue to Ait Ben Haddou to explore the ancient Kasbah, a UNESCO-protected site since 1987 that has featured in films and series such as Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones.
From Ait Ben Haddou, we head to Marrakech through the Atlas Mountains, past charming Berber villages, pausing to admire the Kasbah of Telouet. This 4-day desert tour ends with drop-off at your accommodation in Marrakech.
