Day 1: Casablanca -> Rabat -> Fes
Your tour starts in the morning with a pick-up from Mohammed V International Airport, your hotel, or anywhere you are in Casablanca by one of our local guides.
We drive to the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, the largest in Morocco and the seventh largest in the world. Then we head to Rabat to explore the Hassan Tower — the minaret of an unfinished mosque — and visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.
After lunch in Rabat, we continue to Fes, where you can have dinner in the Medina and sleep in a beautiful riad.
Day 2: Fes -> Ifrane -> Middle Atlas Mountains -> Ziz Valley -> Merzouga desert
After breakfast in your riad, we leave Fes for the Merzouga desert. Our first stop is Ifrane, a beautiful Middle Atlas town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” After a quick stop, we continue across the Middle Atlas, pausing in a cedar forest to watch some rare Barbary macaques in the wild. Lunch is at a restaurant along the way. We then travel to the desert via the Tizi n’Talghemt and along the Ziz Valley.
We reach the town of Merzouga (a small village at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes) in the late afternoon, where your camels and guide are ready to lead you across the Sahara to your desert camp. On the way, you’ll stop on a high dune to watch a calm sunset over the giant Erg Chebbi dunes, then continue the ride.
You’re greeted with a cup of tea on arrival. Relax in your private tent before dinner. After an appetising dinner, take a seat around a campfire with the Berbers, listen to Berber music, and share the culture beneath a starry sky.
Day 3: Merzouga -> Rissani -> Todra Canyon -> Dades Gorges
An early wake-up is highly recommended to watch the golden sunlight light up the scene. Enjoy breakfast at your camp, then leave by camel again or by 4×4.
If it’s a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, we can visit a traditional Moroccan souk in Rissani. Then we drive to Tinghir, stopping at a panoramic view over palm trees and Berber villages. We continue along the Todra River to the deep Todra Canyon, where you can walk beneath the 300-metre-high cliffs.
Afterwards, we drive to our last destination for the day, the Dades Gorges — an area that lay at the bottom of the sea millions of years ago and holds great quantities of sediment. You’ll enjoy a panoramic view of a winding road before heading to your hotel.
Day 4: Dades Gorges -> Ouarzazate -> Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah -> High Atlas Mountains -> Marrakech
On the final day, we begin the journey to Marrakech after breakfast at your hotel.
First, we drive to Ouarzazate via Kalaat M’Gouna, known for its valley full of roses in spring. In Ouarzazate you can optionally visit the Atlas Studios (the world’s biggest film set).
Second, we drive to the ancient Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a striking example of southern Moroccan architecture. The fortified town has been the setting for many films such as Prince of Persia, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, and Gladiator, and became the city of Yunkai in Game of Thrones.
Third, after exploring the Kasbah, we drive to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains and over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, at 2,260 metres (7,415 ft) above sea level, with stops along the way. Your 4 day Morocco tour ends with drop-off at your riad in Marrakech.
