Day 1: Marrakech -> High Atlas Mountains -> Ait Ben Haddou -> Dades Valley

We begin with an 8:00 am pick-up from your riad or wherever you’re staying in Marrakech. Leaving the city, we journey through the High Atlas Mountains to the Tizi n’Tichka pass, 2,260 metres (7,415 feet) above sea level, stopping to admire some lovely Berber villages along the way.
We then visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an old fortified village UNESCO-listed and celebrated for its distinctive Moroccan architecture. Many films were shot here, including Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Babel (2006), Prince of Persia (2010), Game of Thrones (2012), and the documentary David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (2020). You’ll have plenty of time to explore.
After a tasty lunch, we head south along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley, passing Ouarzazate, Skoura, and the Valley of Roses at Kalaat M’Gouna. Arriving in the Dades Valley in the afternoon, we’ll visit the rock formations known as the “monkey fingers” if time allows; if not, we’ll see them the next day. You’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel of your choice.
Day 2: Dades Valley -> Tinghir Oasis -> Todra Gorge -> Merzouga desert
We start the second day with a tasty breakfast, then head to Tinghir, stopping at a scenic spot overlooking Berber villages and a palm-filled oasis. Nearby stands the 300-metre-high Todra Gorge, which we’ll walk beneath before continuing to the Merzouga desert.
Reaching Merzouga in the afternoon, you’ll begin a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, pausing on a high dune to watch a breathtaking sunset over the golden sand. You’ll then ride on to camp, where a cup of tea and a warm welcome await. After some free time and a delicious Moroccan dinner, you can gather around a campfire with Berber hosts who play drums and share stories beneath a starry sky. You’ll spend the night in a luxury desert camp of your choice.
Day 3: Merzouga desert -> Draa River -> Ouarzazate -> Marrakech
We highly recommend waking early to watch a beautiful sunrise from the nearest high dune. After a delicious breakfast, you can return to Merzouga town either by camel or by comfortable 4×4. From there we head back to Marrakech, this time along the Draa River — Morocco’s longest, at 1,100 kilometres.
Feel free to ask your driver to stop whenever you wish. We’ll break for lunch in Ouarzazate before driving back to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. Finally, we drop you at your accommodation, ending your Marrakech desert tour 3 days.
